Thank Barney Frank for standing up to right-wing attacks

Thank Barney Frank for standing up to right-wing attacks

Right-wing "deathers," worked into a frenzy by blatant lies from FOX News and the insurance lobby, have hijacked town halls all over the country with bullying and scare tactics. They know that if the voices of the people are heard in the health care debate, there will be no doubt that Americans want real reform, and a strong public insurance option.

This week, when confronted a rightwing activist comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler, Congressman Barney Frank said what we all have been thinking. You can check out the video here.

A couple of choice lines:

"On what planet do you spend most of your time?"

"It is a tribute to the first Amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated."

And perhaps the most poignant, given the shut-down-the-dialogue tactics of the right wing:

"Ma'am, trying to have a conversation with you would be like trying to argue with a dining room table. I have no interest in doing it."

Will you thank Barney Frank for standing up to the madness and fighting for real health care reform?

So many times the politicians in Washington fail us by caving in to ridiculous attacks from the right wing. Barney Frank stood up and fought back. We should thank him in the hopes that an overwhelmingly positive response will encourage others to speak out as well.
